Grant and Project Acquittals
A requirement of many funding agreements is for a grant acquittal to be provided by the recipient of the funding. An acquittal can take a number of forms and can vary depending on the size of funding, the grantor and the purpose of the grant.
It is important that you are aware of the conditions set out in your funding agreement. These conditions might include the timing of funding, restrictions on how the money can be spent, whether under-spendings have to be returned and the type of acquittal required.
Some grant acquittals require audited financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards to provide assurance that the financial information for the activity represents the financial transactions fairly and is based on proper accounts and records. The audit must be performed by an approved auditor.
