Lionel Walsh is the founding partner of Walsh Accounting. He has been a qualified accountant and registered tax agent since the firm commenced in 1980. He became a Registered Company Auditor in 1997, and has over 28 yrs experience in local government, company and SMSF audits. Working predominately with small to medium businesses, Lionel has extensive exposure to rural businesses.


Lionel has progressed to Fellow of CPA Australia (FCPA) status, which means he is recognised as an expert in his field. FCPAs are renowned as having gained unparalleled experience in the field of accounting and finance and the fellowship marks the strong, ongoing relationship with CPA Australia. 


Lionel loves puzzles - crosswords, riddles etc - but his favourite puzzles are finding the best solutions for his clients. Lionel has been involved in negotiations with senior ATO Officers regarding various taxation issues including complex capital gains tax matters for both small and large businesses alike.

Lionel is a mad keen tennis player, with more than 50+ yrs experience on the tennis court. Lionel plays weekly fixtures holding the Number 1 ranking for his team. He is a life member of the Barcaldine Tennis Club. Lionel is a proud and passionate family man with 7 children, 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Walsh Accounting really is a family business - with wife Marg, 5 children, 4 extended family members and 2 grandchildren all working for the business at one point in time. Lionel's superpower is grammar and spelling.
