Liezl Wilbers

Liezl did not enjoy accounting at school and was dreaming about being either a commercial pilot, or a veterinarian. While unsure about which way to go, she took a gap year and worked on a family farm and restaurant in the Cape Winelands region. During this time, she started helping out with the restaurant and farm bookkeeping which led to an interesting conversation with their auditor, and a big change in future plans. Liezl completed her Bachelor of Accounting at the University of Stellenbosch in 2003, and then started her internship with Badenhorst Auditors in Caledon South Africa where she gained experience in a large range of different entities and industries.

Shortly after they got married, Liezl and her husband decided they feel like an adventure, and moved to Barcaldine, Queensland in February 2009. She then started working with Walsh Accounting until July 2010 when she moved back home to Cape Town, South Africa with her young family to be closer to family. While there Liezl continued Accountancy for another 6 years and then Auditor for 3 years.

Liezl and her husband soon realised that Barcaldine is the perfect spot to raise their family, and so they moved back to Barcaldine at the beginning of 2020 and we were absolutely thrilled and delighted to welcome Liezl and her now bigger family back into the Walsh Accounting fold. Liezl genuinely loves Accounting and enjoys assisting clients with the preparation of financial statements and tax returns. Liezl also enjoys to flex her auditor muscles with community club auditing and company audits.

Liezl enjoys long walks with her much beloved boxer dog Elsa, plays tennis and just love to share an active lifestyle with her family. Liezl and her family has been actively involved in the community with clubs such as the Barcaldine swim club since returning to Barcaldine. Liezl's superpower is that she is multilingual, speaking in both Afrikaans and English.
